MYOB has a longer history with Australian payroll and compliance features built in from years of local development, and some business owners find its structure easier to follow if they’re used to older accounting software. If you need more advanced inventory or manufacturing features, MYOB’s higher-tier plans handle this well.
Where Xero tends to fit better
Xero’s bank feed automation and add-on ecosystem — job management, e-commerce, industry-specific apps — is generally considered stronger, and its interface is often easier for business owners without a bookkeeping background to navigate day to day. If you’re already using other software that connects to Xero specifically, that’s worth weighing heavily.
What actually matters more than the platform
